ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change to COP-15 to the UNFCCC and CMP-5 to the Kyoto Protocol (15th ASEAN Summit, 2009)
In this Statement, heads of government reaffirm that Parties should protect the climate system for the benefit of present and future generations and further reaffirm that the UNFCCC and its Kyoto Protocol continue to be the basic framework and legal instrument for the international community to combat global climate change.

- Commit to continue actively contributing towards a successful outcome of the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and the 5th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol.
