ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF)

ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) is the highest body which handles the ASEAN Cooperation in Food, Agriculture and Forestry and is supported by the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM-AMAF). Its basic objective is to formulate and implement regional cooperation activities to enhance the international competitiveness of ASEAN Food, Agriculture, and Forestry Products as well as to further strengthen arrangements and joints positions in international fora. Forestry was included from the ASEAN Cooperation in Agriculture in 1977.
AMAF meets annually.

Status / Updates:: The 37th AMAF endorsed the Vision and Strategic Plan for ASEAN Cooperation in Food, Agriculture and Forestry 2016-2025 to chart out directions for ASEAN Cooperation in these areas in order to realize the ASEAN Community Vision 2025. Under this Strategic Plan, promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) is one among the seven (7) strategic thrusts identified.

The 37th Meeting of AMAF and Related Meetings was organized by the Department of Agriculture and co-organized by DENR-FMB.
